For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6
Knowledge is a tool that God desires to equip you with. We should be learning something new everyday. When we stop learning, we begin to die. Opportunities are taken away from us. We miss out on God’s best. God created this whole world through wisdom and knowledge. By closing our hearts and minds to learning, we are stealing from others. Our families future will be affected because we did not use our time wisely and increase our knowledge. There will be limits on how much we can handle because of personal choices made to not increase and learn. That is a prideful, sinful act. People risk compromising on the future welfare of their family because they fail to pick up a book, or ask someone to teach them. Many people miss out on receiving God’s best because they never studied the Word of God. Some people are stuck in a average job, unhappy with the outcome of their life because they failed to add to their knowledge. Knowledge is definitely a tool. It equips you to do more. God will use those tools stored in you to help and bless others. Joseph was sold into slavery. As a slave, he learned how to lead a household and take care of others. In prison he learned how to manage people, resources, and use his God given abilities. When it was time to step into what he was called to do, he was equipped for the job. Because of his uncommon learning in difficult situations, God used him to feed the world. What tools do you have to offer unto the service of the King. I want to encourage you to commit to a lifestyle of learning. Listen to sermons and lectures. Read books. Find people who will mentor you. You are never too old to pick up new tools.
POEM: “Equipment”
Figure it out for yourself, my lad,
You’ve all that the greatest of men have had,
Two arms, two hands, two legs, two eyes
And a brain to use if you would be wise.
With this equipment they all began,
So start for the top and say, “I can.”
Look them over, the wise and great
They take their food from a common plate,
And similar knives and forks they use,
With similar laces they tie their shoes.
The world considers them brave and smart,
But you’ve all they had when they made their start.
You can triumph and come to skill,
You can be great if you only will.
You’re well equipped for what fight you choose,
You have legs and arms and a brain to use,
And the man who has risen great deeds to do
Began his life with no more than you.
You are the handicap you must face,
You are the one who must choose your place,
You must say where you want to go,
How much you will study the truth to know.
God has equipped you for life, but He
Lets you decide what you want to be.
Courage must come from the soul within,
The man must furnish the will to win.
So figure it out for yourself, my lad.
You were born with all that the great have had,
With your equipment they all began,
Get hold of yourself and say: “I can.”
